About Me:
I love working collaboratively with faculty and students and I have been the director of the center since 2010. My approach in guiding and building the center has been to create a collaborative community of scholars who develop and co-lead professional development experiences. Through this community approach, the center has developed strong collaborations across the Eberly College of Science and the university. These collaborations have led to sustainable programming that is always being refreshed and updated by the community. I am excited to bring colleagues together to work as a team and create new experiences.
I am also a teaching professor in the Department of Chemistry and an academic adviser. I apply what I learn from colleagues and the education literature to my practice as an instructor and a mentor. I take a holistic approach to teaching, and I believe my students need to learn content and professional skills. My practice as an instructor and my role as a member of the community in the Grove Center work together to support my goals of striving to be an effective teacher, mentor and leader.
Why is it so important to include everyone in the development and delivery of the center’s programming?
When we include members of the community from across the college, they share their collective experiences in teaching and learning, and we create experiences that will speak to all instructors.

Fun fact about me: My favorite time of the week is Sunday dinner. My mother carried on the tradition of Sunday dinner when I was growing up and I have carried on the tradition with my family. I love trying new recipes and catching up on the week with family and friends.
