When
Monday, May 4, through Friday, May 8.
Who should participate
Any individual who teaches Penn State courses on a regular basis is welcome to apply. The workshop is designed to benefit instructors who are just beginning to learn pedagogical best practices as well as those who already have significant pedagogical knowledge.
Workshop Focus
The Evidence-Based Teaching Academy focuses on sharing strategies to implement evidence-based practices that maximize student learning. Participants explore how evidence-based practices can be implemented in all modes of instruction and examine pedagogical approaches that promote inclusive and equitable learning experiences. EBTA offers faculty a week of dedicated time to learn and to work on their own course materials.
Pre-workshop Meetings
This year, participants will be asked to attend one of several offerings of an introductory meeting, approximately 1 hour in length, with the EBTA team before the workshop. During this meeting, participants will learn more about the workshop structure and set goals they would like to accomplish during the week.
Curriculum Alignment
Participants will also be asked to meet before the workshop with a curriculum mentor in their department to align their goals with department initiatives and program objectives. This meeting gives faculty an excellent opportunity to consider how the course they teach fits into the larger curriculum.
