Education research is essential to evidence-based teaching and learning. The science education research that informs the programming created and shared by the Grove Center community comes from the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL) and discipline-based education research (DBER). The Grove Center is led by members of our Eberly College of Science community of science education researchers who are engaged in SoTL and DBER studies. The center also supports our educational research learning communities and the dissemination of their research through our programming.
Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER) Community
Our discipline-based education research group meets throughout the semester to explore recent advances in national STEM DBER work, support faculty members interested in starting or growing DBER work withing their own courses, and build collaborations with faculty members within this topic. Louis Leblond (physics) and Jennelle Malcos (biology) initiated the group, which now consists of faculty members from diverse departments.
