What if you could build a simple tool, cut down on repetitive tasks, make sense of your data, and more just by explaining what you want in plain English? Join the Grove Center team for a hands-on “Vibe Coding” workshop. You will explore new ways to use AI helpers and coding tools together to turn your ideas into something that actually works. Whether you want to save time on routine work, create clearer charts and reports, build small tools for your team, or you are simply curious about what AI can do, this session will help you get started.
Participants will learn how to:
- Automate repetitive tasks and connect the tools you already use.
- Turn raw data into charts, dashboards, and other clear visuals.
- Build small scripts or web tools tailored to your own projects.
- Work in AI-powered coding environments and desktop tools in a low-stakes way.
Workshop Details
- Location: 16 Ritenour Building.
- Date and time: July 22 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- What to bring: A laptop.
We will walk through several options you can try, including Google Antigravity, VS Code, Claude Code, Codex, and other tools that pair well with AI. If you already have access to a desktop AI code editor, we encourage you to bring it. If not, you can still fully participate using AI Studio, Penn State’s new enterprise platform that will be available to all students this fall. It can be a little slower because it does not include a built-in code editor, but it is a strong web-based alternative for the workshop.
